Latest Good Read

Dear Diary,

I have recently fallen in love with reading again. I think it was 5th grade when the attraction really developed and I was starting a new novel at a steady pace through high school. Sadly, once college hit and my days were filled with class, work, teaching aerobics classes, Pitt State baseball, homework and of course a booming social life, my reading fell to the wayside! Sure I have read a book here and there over the past 6 years that I've been out of high school(holy moly, 6 years!!!), but it wasn't until the past few months that I have quickly become a true reader again.

No I don't read anything that you would consider educational. I can't even say I mosey down the classics section of the library or even the biography aisle where I could probably learn a thing or two. I stick to my favorites - Murder/Thriller. I have always had a thing for scary, drama filled books. One of my favorite memories as a child was Mom taking us to the library over the summers. I would go straight to the card catalog and look under the subject "ghost" to find my next good read. It wasn't long before the library ran out of novels with "ghost" in the title, but I soon discovered R.L. Stine's Goosebumps and Fear Street collections that kept me pretty busy. As I got older I moved on to Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson, who still have me flipping through their pages today!

I had a very bittersweet moment as I finished my book this afternoon. I love flipping to the last chapter of a good novel, knowing it's going to end as I want it to and happy to fill in all the holes to make the story complete. At the same time, I am always disappointed that it's over and I have to move on. I finished Linda Howard's "Burn," a random pick from the library a couple of weeks ago. I have never read anything from Linda Howard but I plan on spending more time in the "H" section from now on. The main character, Jenner Redwine, finds herself going from poor to rich, from scared to smitten, and from lust to love in this thriller love story. Yes, what could be better than a thriller and love story wrapped into one? I will be adding this title to Lindsey's Book Club list and recommend it to anyone who wants and easy, good read!

Now I will move on to someone who never lets me down, James Patterson. We'll see if "Private" can give me that bittersweet moment when I turn to its final chapter here in a few days.

Sincerely Yours,
