Dear Diary,
Wow. I haven't written since July! I have no excuses besides the usual - busy, occupied, lack of subject material, simply forgot about the ol' blog, etc. Maybe I am losing my touch...
The girls are hitting pretty big milestone ages as we find ourselves in September (18 Months & 3 Years) so let me take a second to express exactly how I see my girls today.
Olivia Ryan
Olivia is like the Teller to Addalyn's Penn. Addy doesn't stop talking while Liva sits back and soaks it all in. She isn't always quiet though. She has her moments where she can give Addy a run for her money. And the child knows more words than she lets on. She'll just say something out of nowhere and I look at her shocked and she acts as if there is no reason to be surprised. She certainly doesn't say words for anyone elses pleasure. It used to be a game with Addy:
"Addy, say dog." "Dog." VS. "Liva, say dog." (blank stare)
She knows the words, she can say the words, she just only says them when they are necessary. I guess if someone asked me to say "dog" for no particular reason I'd look at them like they were an idiot too.
Olivia's personality is different than Addy's too. She is my girly girl. She is the Jewelry Queen of the Universe. See Below:
And while Olivia is nearing the 18 month mark of life, she is still my little cuddle buddy. She requires an extreme amount of hugs per day and we STILL rock to sleep every night. I am definitely not complaining. I enjoy our end of the day snuggles.
A habit I am not crazy about is Olivia's hair obsession. I know a lot of kids twirl their hair, but my child twirls OTHER PEOPLE'S hair. And not just occasionally either. When it's time to settle down and take a rest, she grabs the first person she can get her hands on (usually me). My hair has been tugged and twisted and twirled about 4 million times. And if there is no one available, she'll play with her own locks but she'd much prefer someone elses.
And then there is sister...
Addalyn Paige
Addy will be 3 years old tomorrow. I won't bore you with the usual, "I cannot believe my baby is 3 years old...time flies....how did she get so big?" talk (even though all those things are true). I will say this though; time goes quickly the first couple years of their life, but they still at least feel like your little baby whereas now, Addy is so far from baby I can't even believe it. She is such a little grownup and while I miss that "baby" side of her, I LOVE her big girl personality and I can't imagine my days without being able to talk to her.
She has always surprised Garrett and I by her whit and sense of humor. The kid knows things that we swear we didn't teach her and her memory is unbelievable. Almost freaky actually. She makes us laugh far too much and her sneaky antics have me constantly grabbing for a camera.
She loves books, movies and games. She can sit and color for hours and she'd sit even longer if you'd color with her. She has all her favorite movies memorized and she doesn't think twice about correcting you if you are wrong. She loves anyone who will listen to her and every kid she comes in contact with is automatically her best friend. She is funny, kind, well behaved and SOMETIMES a little crazy.
She loves her family and most importantly her partner in crime, Olivia. I love watching those two together. The fighting between the two happens of course but is really minimal compared to all the laughing and shenanigans they get themselves into.
SO, that about sums up my hooligans. I couldn't ask for a better life. As we celebrate Addy's Birthday tomorrow I will continually thank God for letting me be a Mom! It is the greatest role on the planet!
Sincerely Yours,
