Christmas, Colds & Clutter...Oh My!

Dear Diary,

Well it's been a few days since I have last posted. I've been a busy lady - getting ready for Christmas, packing for 5 days away, enjoying a fabulous Christmas weekend, and hauling all our goodies back to a little place called home. I absolutely love going back to the good ol' hometown, in fact I get quite excited about it, but I am always incredibly anxious to get back to our humble little abode. There is nothing like having everything where you need it, getting ready in your own bathroom and most importantly, sleeping in your own bed. However, I am incredibly lucky to have parents and in-laws who rank in at a high second place!

I could highlight our Christmas weekend, which I would love to do, but I can only say how awesome my family is, how fun it was to watch my daughter's excitement, how nice it was to see good friends, and how incredibly blessed I am so many times. Instead, I will touch base on a few things that I feel are noteworthy:

Un-Decorating:
Yuck. Now that I am home and have unloaded 4,700 toys and gifts, started all the laundry and made a quick run to the store, the LAST thing I want to do is take down Christmas decorations. I am also avoiding the pile of gifts that are in a nice organized cluster that need to find a home somewhere in this house. It doesn't help that I have finally gotten Garrett's cold and am battling a sore throat and runny nose. I think the best medicine is rest right? Between opening up more new toys, changing diapers and making sure the two of us gets fed today, I think I'll do just that - REST. After all, the cluster and decorations are going to be around all week right?

Lindsey's Book Club:
I hit the jackpot with new books for Christmas and they couldn't have come at a better time. My latest read, James Patterson's "Private," left me shy of intrigued. Not that the book was terrible, (I don't think James Patterson knows how to write terrible), but I can't say that I will be adding this title to Lindsey's Book Club list. But the good thing about books is that there is always a new one waiting to be read. I debated on which of my new books to read first but the lucky winner is Emily Giffin's "Baby Proof." It seemed rather fitting at the moment and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it'll make "the list" when I am through with it!

Anniversary:
It started 10 years ago with a hello on ICQ, a friendly handshake at Taco Tico and a stereotypical first date of dinner and movie. It was followed by a short lived "romance" before I broke his heart, we spent time apart, and I succeeded in my desperate attempt to get him back. We've spent a solid 9 years as Garrett and Lindsey, and while the road had its bumps, we kept on driving. After 5 years he realized he needed to keep me around, after 6 years we were saying "I Do," and after 8 years we were welcoming our first child. Now, 9 years later, I am still counting my blessings. We are exactly the same and the exact opposite... the perfect match! I love the guy more than anything and have worn the name Mrs. Garrett Forsythe proudly for the past 3 years. There isn't a better guy around, and let me make this very clear, he's just as lucky to have me by his side! =) I may not look as good as I did on December 28th, 2007, but I am still a great catch! I want to Thank God again for giving me far more blessings than I am worthy of and for letting me spend my life with a guy who couldn't make me any happier. Well besides maybe putting his clothes in the hamper, wiping up his crumbs off the counter, and not being as attached to his XBox, but whose paying attention to those little things? =)

  2. Okay...Several comments.
#1...If you're looking for a good book I have a couple that I have recently finished. "The Help" and "The Art of Racing in the Rain".

#2...Your account of the past nine years just got me to thinking back about the days when you first started working in the shop, moving into your 1st apartment, moving into yours and Garrett's 1st apartment, the wedding, etc. That's it. No comment...I was just thinking about it.

#3...Lindsey, you look GREAT! I mean it. I was looking at you three girls the other night at your mom and dad's house thinking how adorable you all are. Seriously...it's like those miserably skinny girls constantly bitching about how fat they are when I'm right there in a size 12. Okay...12 or 14, but I say 12 because I can squeeze into a 12 about half of the time.

    Keep writing...
