Dear Diary,
I did something yesterday that I haven't done in a long time. I took a nap. Not a long nap, but a nap nonetheless and it was fantastic. I spent my afternoon playing in the playroom, reading my Kindle and falling asleep with both my girls so I would call my day a good one!
My nice Sunday followed my equally as nice Saturday. Forsythe Family pictures in the morning, lunch at Fritz's in the afternoon and a big dinner followed by family fun at the park and a delicious dessert. Our weekend hardly cost us a thing but it was a great one!
I have been doing a lot of reading on my Kindle lately, as I always do, but I realized I haven't been keeping up with "Lindsey's Book Club" on here. Not that many of you are paying much attention but I figure I should at least update it since the book on display has been there for months and I read it so long ago that I hardly even remember what it was about.
I have crossed paths with a lot of books since then and some are worth mentioning and some are not, but below I will rate each one on a grading scale of how much I enjoyed them - "A" being a MUST READ and "F" being a DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, and all the ratings in between.
Tina Fey, "Bossypants" A
- If you want to laugh from a sarcastic sense of humor, this book is for you.
Todd Burpo, "Heaven Is For Real" B
- A short read that makes you think about what Heaven could really be like.
Kathryn Stockett, "The Help" A+
- I was hesitant on reading this one, but I am SO GLAD I did. It is excellent.
Janet Evanovich, "One For The Money" B
- Somewhat of a murder/mystery but with humor involved.
Barbara Freethy, "Just The Way You Are" A+
- My first Kindle purchase. A love story with conflict. Very good and only $1.99!
Julie Michele Gettys, "Della" B-
- Good for only being $0.99, but not great. A drama of trying to overcome obstacles with work and family.
Alexandrea Weis, "To My Senses" B
- Another love story that took me awhile to get into but not a bad read.
E L James, "Fifty Shades of Grey" C
"Fifty Shades Darker" C+
- They grab your attention for sure but in my opinion, these are not worth all the buzz they are getting. It wasn't so bad that I didn't want to read the second one, obviously, but about halfway through book #2 I was so bored I decided there was no way I could read #3. Maybe after a break from them I will change my mind. I actually did end up liking Fifty Shades Darker better than Fifty Shades of Grey though due to more of storyline that had some substance.
Moving on to another cheap Kindle buy and then I think I am going to either dive into the Hunger Games or read a good ol' paperback my Mother-In-Law let me borrow. I'm sure you will all be on the edge of your seats, but don't worry, I will bore you to death again once I have a few more books under my belt.
Sincerely Yours,
